Money is a
new form of slavery
“Labour not to be rich:
cease from thine own wisdom.“ Proverbs
The world seeks for material
wealth. If a person is not receiving pocket money, then he wants to
receive some; if a person does receive some, then he wants even more.
This is completely normal, and for certain, most people would take
money if it was for free.
However, we need to watch out that we never get greedy for money.
The Bible says that “the love of money is the root of all evil”
(1.Timothy 6:10). If we are rich, then we should always be ready to
share our wealth.
Many people try to be successful in their careers their whole life
long. The reason being, as many often say, so that they do not have
to worry anymore about money. However, when they have achieved their
desired goal of success and finally do have “enough” money, they worry
even more. Sometimes it is because they want to get more, and sometimes
it is because they do not want to lose what they already have.
tells us in Ecclesiastes 5:10, “He that loveth silver shall not
be satisfied with silver...” And Jesus said, ”for one’s life
does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”
(Luke 12:15) and “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33).
Jesus always insisted that there is something much more important
than material riches, namely, this being the kingdom of God.
In the future, we should make sure that we do not strive for money,
but rather that we direct all our efforts and attention towards God.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who
can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered
Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all
things?” (Rom. 8:31+32). Jesus, who died for us, wanted that
we, as reborn Christians, would tell others about Him and let our
lights shine. Not much more is required from us; He takes care of
the rest. He takes care of things, so that we have an education, a
job or a good pension.
We are allowed to live with this promise and put everything into God’s
hands. We just need to trust Him and hand everything over to Him,
then He will welcome us with open arms. The closer we get to God,
the less problems we will have in the world. Or, as according to Romans
8:32, When we belong to Jesus, He will give us everything that we
