Unity - is there not a cause?

Harmony, union, agreement, unison, solidarity, ONE. These are all words that describe unity.

The dictionary defines "unity" as: the state of being in full agreement. The principle of unity is strength, there is strength in numbers. It is true that a single stick can be broken easily, but a bundle of sticks is impossible to break. If we stand united the devil cannot destroy us, but if we stand alone he can break us down.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
(Psalm 133:1)

For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. (Romans 12:4-5) Alone we can do little, but together we can do so much. What one person in a church can do others cannot, but what others can do that one person cannot. God did not just call one person to His church, He called all of us as "chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people ..." (1 Peter 2:9). God has called each of us to work together in unity to keep HIS church running in unison.

The bible talks about unity more than heaven and hell, because it is essential to spiritual and physical growth of the church.

In Proverbs 6, it talks about the things God hates, and one is "sowing discord among brothers". In this time and age we must be united more than ever. The Lord has called us "out of darkness, into His marvelous light". (1 Peter 2:9) We are all on the same team and should have the same goal, and that is to win the lost and help our brothers and sisters make it to heaven. No city or house divided against itself will stand (Matthew 12:25) Where there is unity there is always victory. Sister Christine Duke
