TEXT: Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

When my cousin was little, he had a security blanket that never left his side. Wherever he was, wherever he went, that little blue blanket went with him. As long as Jeff held onto that blanket, he felt safe and comfortable in any environment he happened to find himself in. Cute when you're three, not so cute when you're twenty-three.

Lately, the Lord has been dealing with me about my security blankets. There are things in my life that I often find myself clinging to in order to obtain some false sense of security in a far-from-secure world. I treat things like supportive relationships, a steady job, and financial stability like life preservers when I feel myself drowning under waves of endless pressures and expectations. I tell myself that everything will be all right as long as my preservers are there for me to reach out and hold onto; however, Romans 8:28 convicts my heart. My Lord ever so diligently and faithfully offers me the utmost in security. He will willingly work all things - all things - together for my good if I Just let Him! Why cling to rubbery life preservers when you have your very own lifeguard on call 24/7?! KMcC
